Your privacy is a top priority for us at Alfa1 Stars ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy is to inform you about our data practices and to demonstrate our commitment to not collecting your personal information.
Log Data and Analytics
We want to inform you that whenever you use our Service, in a case of an error in the app, we may collect data and information (through third-party products) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Service, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics.
Furthermore, this application uses Google Analytics for Firebase, a third-party service, to help us understand how our Service is being used and to improve the user experience. To achieve this, the service may collect certain user data, including but not limited to identifiers that Firebase generates for this installation (such as the app instance ID), device-specific information, and data on your in-app activity. Google Analytics also uses the IP address to determine the approximate location of the device (country and city); it does not store the IP address itself. This information is used for analytical purposes and is processed in a way that respects user privacy.
We do not share this data with other companies for their own use. For more information on how Google Analytics for Firebase collects and processes data, please review Google's Privacy Policy. This is Google's own privacy policy, which may be updated independently from this app's privacy policy.
The app does not collect your device's Advertising ID: its collection by Google Analytics for Firebase is switched off in the app.
Crash Reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
Separately from the usage statistics described above, this application uses Firebase Crashlytics, a crash-reporting service provided by Google. If the app crashes, or runs into a serious error that it recovers from, Crashlytics sends a report so that we can find and fix the problem. A report contains the technical cause of the error (stack trace), the device model, the Android version, the app version, the time of the error, an installation identifier generated by Crashlytics, and the last few in-app events recorded before the error. It does not contain your voice recordings, playlists, Sleep Log entries or any other content you create in the app. Google keeps crash reports for 90 days.
We use crash reports only to keep the app working — never for advertising or profiling — and we do not sell them or share them with anyone else. For more information on how Google processes this data, please review Privacy and Security in Firebase and Google's Privacy Policy.
Retention of Data
Log Data and analytics information (including device information and usage statistics) collected through Google Analytics for Firebase are stored according to Google's standard data retention policies and are automatically deleted or anonymized after a limited period required for analytics and legal purposes. We do not store any personally identifiable data beyond what is necessary to operate the Service, and user-specific data is retained only for as long as necessary to analyze and improve the app, after which it is deleted or aggregated into non-identifiable statistics.
Our app requires the following Android permissions solely to provide its core functionality:
Audio Playback
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE: Allows the app to run as a foreground service, enabling continuous audio playback even when the screen is turned off or the user switches to another app.
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK: Specifies that the foreground service is used for media playback. Required for apps targeting Android 10 and newer to ensure transparency about why the app is running in the background.
android.permission.WAKE_LOCK: Prevents the processor from sleeping during audio playback, ensuring uninterrupted music. This permission is automatically added by the Media3/ExoPlayer library used for audio playback.
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Allows the app to display a playback notification in the status bar with playback controls. Mandatory for background playback on Android 13 and newer.
User Experience
android.permission.ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY: Allows the app to access and modify the device's Do Not Disturb (DND) settings, ensuring that music and ambient sounds are not interrupted by system notifications.
android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Allows the app to be notified when the device finishes booting. Used to restore the sleep timer if it was active before the device was restarted.
android.permission.SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: Allows the app to schedule precise alarms. Used by the sleep timer to stop playback at the exact time specified by the user.
android.permission.REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS: Requests that the operating system does not apply battery-saving restrictions to the app, ensuring reliable background audio playback without interruption by the system's power management.
Network & Updates
android.permission.INTERNET: Enables network access for checking for app updates, communicating with Google Play for license verification, and sending anonymous analytics data and crash reports via Firebase.
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Allows the app to check whether a network connection is available before attempting to check for updates.
Licensing & Purchases
com.android.vending.CHECK_LICENSE: Used to verify that the app was legitimately purchased or licensed through Google Play, in accordance with Google Play's licensing policy.
com.android.vending.BILLING: Required for communication with Google Play Billing as part of payment processing.
Voice Recording
android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO: Allows the app to record the user's voice to create shushing (shhh) sounds, which help soothe babies to sleep. Recordings are saved only in the app's private storage on your device and are never uploaded or transmitted; you can delete them at any time in the app.
Haptic Feedback
android.permission.VIBRATE: Allows the app to trigger short device vibrations as haptic feedback when the user moves sliders (Sound Mixer, Master Volume, Night Light). Vibrations are brief and serve only as tactile confirmation for the user.
This app contains no advertisements. We do not use any advertising SDKs (such as AdMob, Facebook Audience Network, or other advertising networks). You will never see ads within this app.
The app does not collect the Advertising ID, and no data from the app is used for serving or targeting advertisements.
This app is intended for children under 13 years old and their parents. We take special care to protect children's privacy in accordance with Google Play Families Policy and COPPA regulations.
What data we collect from children:
Age of child (0-3 months, 3-12 months, 1-3 years, over 3 years) - stored only on the device, to provide appropriate sleep content
Audio recordings of shhh sounds recorded by parents - stored locally on device, never sent to server
Anonymous usage data via Google Analytics for Firebase - for improving app functionality
Crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics (technical details of an error, no content from the app) - for fixing errors
How we use this data:
Age: to provide age-appropriate sleep content
Audio recordings: to create personalized shhh sounds for your child
Analytics data: to understand how children use the app and improve user experience
Crash reports: only to find and fix errors in the app
Data sharing:
We do not share children's data with third parties for advertising purposes. Firebase Analytics data is anonymous and cannot identify individual children. Crash reports contain no name, contact details or content from the app, and are used only to fix errors.
Data deletion:
Parents can delete audio recordings at any time from within the app. Analytics data is anonymous and cannot be linked to individual children. Crash reports are deleted automatically after 90 days. For detailed instructions, see the Delete Your Data page.
We may update this Privacy Policy in the future if our app's functionality changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this website.
